Commuter Rail Energy Savings

A study of the energy savings potential on the Long Island Railroad employing Stornetic flywheels for recovering energy from recuperative braking.

Metro Energy Savings

A study of energy savings potential on the New York City Transit System for recovering energy from recuperative braking on New York City subways. This included preparing applications to New York Energy Research and Development Authority for a proof of concept demonstration. This work is ongoing.

Micro Grid

A study of frequency control for the New Jersey TransitGrid employing Stornetic flywheels on a large microgrid that New jersey Transit will construct using FTA financing.

MBTA Energy Savings

A study of energy savings potential on the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (Boston subway) employing flywheels for recovering energy from recuperative braking.

Renewables Grid Stabilization

A study of employing flywheels to stabilize the grid after incorporation of a 17 MW wind farm on its grid. This was for a small municipal utility employing a hybrid storage scheme – flywheels, battery, and hydro.

New Battery Technology

A study of the potential revenue streams for a company with a new battery technology to enter the utility energy storage market in the USA.

Compressed Air Storage

A study for employing compressed air energy storage to stabilize and shift output for a Ukrainian solar company.

Congestion Relief

A study to utilize compressed air energy storage to relieve transmission congestion for an Austrian utility owned wind farm.

Flywheel Marketing

Developed and created a 19-country network of Exclusive Marketing Agents for marketing Beacon Power Inc.’s flywheel energy storage technology.
